North Star Club - flash anthology

The latter part of this year seems to have been non-stop staycations (I’m absolutely not complaining!). One of them was at North Star Club in  Yorkshire with my sister for her birthday and it was a lot different to the rest!

Somewhere between glamping and a luxury hotel, North Star Club is a handful of woodland cabins in Sancton, 20 minutes south of York, that have been decked out with Scandi panache to make them into wonderful little hideaways. They’re as luxurious as they are charming and simple, and I reckon they’re as close to nature as the luxury traveller can get in the UK.

My sister and I were staying in Star. We arrived late on Friday evening and were in pure HEAVEN when we got into our cabin. In our bedroom was a giant bed that made nifty use silver birch trucks to turn it into 4-poster beauty and a log burning fire (heavenly). The copper tub of my dreams was the centrepiece of the bathroom along with a driftwood bench; then there was an additional little bedroom with bunks, a living room space with a sofa, table and fridge, and a huge gas BBQ and table outside on our covered balcony. Outside, we even had our own private sauna hut!? I mean, we were dreaming!!

We spent the first evening drinking Prosecco, painting our nails, and cooking mackerel and roast veggies on the BBQ outside. As luxurious as it is felt in terms of decor, I really loved the camping-style cooking scenario! And the Famous Five skills required for making a fire in the bedroom!

We’d come armed with Lush bath bombs to make best use of THAT bath, and felt like total princesses in our 4-poster bed. I still can’t get over how warm and cosy the cabin felt, sheepskin rugs and copious blankets helping add to the effect.

It was Em’s birthday the next morning so we opened presents in bed, before having BBQ -cooked sausages and beans for brekkie and Buck’s Fizz! Yep, we were doing this properly!!

When I say woodland suites, I really do mean in the middle of proper countryside. Aside from a few houses and a pub (which is definitely worth hitting up for MY GOD THE MOST DELICIOUS CHIPS EVER) it’s pure countryside so it’s a real good break.

We walked, we talked, we chilled out and we slept a load. Though yep, there is wi-fi and plugs should you want them, North Star Suites is the perfect place to go to hideout. City slickers, take note!

North Star Club, rates from £425 for a 2-night stay via Cool Stays
