So, as you can gather from the title of this post (and my Instagram last week), I’m doing something a bit ridiculous…Yep, I’M RUNNING A MARATHON. Not just any marathon though, London Marathon! In 15 weeks no less! Yikes. And as excited as I am, I’m absolutely bricking it. In fact, it doesn’t actually feel real yet…
As you know, I’ve been doing some stuff with adidas for quite a few weeks now, and as one of the main sponsors, they were lucky enough, and generous enough, to offer me a spot on the bloody EPIC race. Though I always said I’d never run a marathon, this incredible opportunity felt too good to turn down…I mean, I’d be a complete FOOL not to take it up. Plus, it’s a major bucket list box to tick, and if I want to keep pushing myself in terms of fitness and running, this is the obvious next step.
Now though, for the hard work. And I don’t mean just hitting the pavement. As I said in this post, there’s so much more to running and being a good runner than, well, running. I need to work on strength training in the gym, I need to focus on my glutes so they take on more of the hard work, I need to perfect my technique, I need to eat well, drink enough water, foam roll and get in enough physio… The next few months are going to be BUSY, but if there’s one thing I do know it’s that running a marathon is no easy feat, and certainly not one I’m taking lightly, so I’m determined to work really hard to put the work and the hours in… I’m not going after a time, I’m just going for the finish line.
London Marathon 2017 is going to be my first ever marathon. I’m bloody excited but I know it’s going to be one hell of a journey… Stay tuned for more!
