There really is no shortage of places to go for breakfast in London but Good + Proper Tea has to be one of my faves, and a definite must-visit if you’re big on tea.
Known for their out-of-this world sourdough crumpets and giant array of loose leaf teas, Good + Proper Tea is a small, independently run company with a flagship cafe-come-store on Leather Lane in Farringdon. Along with slick, wooden interiors, it’s here where you’ll find their banging weekday brunch. Served 8am to 3:30pm, the brunch menu is small but perfectly formed with unique options like beetroot hash with coconut labneh, smoked trout on sourdough, and Marmite Rarebit….
Along with one of those delicious dishes, I’d recommend going extra hungry and getting a rack of sourdough crumpets to share between you too, because my goooooodness they are insane — served with pots of butter, jam and Nutella. Yum. Don’t leave without some fresh pastries to take home and save for later as well..
Good + Proper Tea do offer filter coffee but as the name would suggest, it’s tea that’s the focus. I’m a matcha lover and love the presentation of it here, served with a little card that gives you more info (and looks super cute in pics). If you ain’t a big tea drinker, the team are super clued up so can help guide you through if you don’t already have a favourite.
GOOD + PROPER TEA, 96 Leather Lane, London, EC1N 7TX — open Monday to Friday. At the weekend, you’ll find them dishing out teas and crumpets at Brockley Market instead.
