You’d feel cheated if a city as cool as Copenhagen didn’t have a handful of slick design hotels to choose from, wouldn’t you? Hotel Danmark is one of the the best, located in walking distance from Strøget, the city’s main shopping street, and a stone throw from the retro fun of Tivoli Gardens. Location really is key with this one. Hotel Danmark puts you right where you want to be, slap bang in the thick of the city so you’ll find you can walk everywhere — the best way to get to know a city.
Hotel Danmark is part of of the Brochner boutique hotel group, making it the newer sister hotel to SP34 (frequently dubbed Copenhagen’s coolest hotel, though pricey). Here, the 89 rooms are small yet functional, and typically Scandi in style: expect light-flooded spaces with moody grey-led colour palettes, brass fixtures, and minimal but thought-out furniture that makes the most of the space — swivelling bedside tables etc. Room sizes vary from bunk bed rooms for pals, single rooms for lone rangers, cost-effective small doubles, and then plush and roomy suites. Bathrooms are pretty damn tiny, though modern and bright, with contemporary white tiling, marble sinks and REN toiletries.
Don’t miss wine hour which happens every day from 5-6pm, for every hotel guest. In a city as expensive as Copenhagen (the whole of Scandinavia will bust your wallet), free beer and wine will be very, very welcomed.
Come morning, an organic breakfast spread is included in your rate and served downstairs in the dining room or out in the pretty courtyard if it’s warm enough. The buffet spread is fresh, colourful and extensive, and if you’re partial to a city break breakfast Mimosa, you’re in luck ‘cos they’ve got bottles of fizz down there too.
