Pulitzer is easily one of Amsterdam’s most luxurious hotels, and certainly one of the plushest city hotels I’ve stayed in — expect marble bathrooms, Le Labo amenities, thick fluffy carpets, and chic sofas at the end of the bed. Simply put, it’s gorgeous.
Very well located between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals, it’s a great base as it puts you in walking distance of all of Amsterdam’s best bits, from the Van Gogh museum to Vondelpark, Foodhallen and De Pijp. Comprised of 25 converted canal houses, Pulitzer really puts you right in the thick of it, though, you’d never know it when you’re in your room. So cosy and serene, they’re well sound-proofed and welcoming, with rich soft furnishings and luxe details like pink tassels on the minibar cabinet keys, elegant china teacups, bicycle repair kits, and the softest, smoothest bed linens — you’ll crawl in and struggle to ever get out.
I love the beautiful muted colour schemes of the rooms, which make you feel instantly calm, as well as the luxurious all-marble bathrooms. Pulitzer has 225 rooms, spanning various categories right up to the set-you-back suites, though I stayed in a Classic Room (second to most basic) which was perfectly adequate for a weekend stay.
As for the rest of the hotel, there are multiple drinking and dining options, including Jansz, a hip bistro-style restaurant that’s the perfect dinner date spot. Plus there’s a good gym, a beautiful open courtyard, and a small florist in the lobby should you be in the market for some blooms…
Pulitzer isn't Amsterdam’s cheapest stay but it’s certainly one of its most beautiful, with first-class service to match. Definitely recommend.
