Pasta is having a bit of a moment in London (erm, finally) and now, cocktail extraordinaire, Tony C (of Colebrooke Row and untitled bar fame) is getting in on the action with Fat Tony’s pasta residence at his bougee Fitzrovia spot, Bar Termini Centrale.
Just off of Oxford Street opposite the side entrance of Selfridges, Bar Termini is the perfect little place for stop off for a little retail therapy refuel. Go hungry and go thirsty. And skip the coffee and get straight to the booze. Cocktails are his thing, it would be rude not to… On a summer’s evening, I’d recommend sitting outside and sipping on a refreshing Termini Spritz — their take on an Aperol Spritz and one that will transport a part of you to far off of Oxford Street…
Burrata’s on the menu and I find it physically impossible not to order it, so if you’re fan like me I’d get that. It’s truly delicious; creamy AF with just a dash of sea salt and olive oil.
On to the mains. It’s pasta or… pasta, so I hope you you like pasta. The bucatini cacio e pepe was my standout favourite. An easy win with the chunky al dente strands of bucatini in a rich and fiery peppery sauce. Simple and perfect.
Our other delicious dish was the tagliarine with crab and chilli. Fresh and fiery with plenty of crab and heaps of flavour. And my pasta pal couldn’t resist the pappardelle with beef shin ragu too — a must for a meat eater our server instructed, and apparently it didn’t disappoint.
After all those carbs, chances are you’ll be too full for dessert but if you can squeeze in a little something extra, share the panna cotta with poached rhubarb — truly delicious, especially with a little glass of their homemade Limoncello. Obligatory for that true Italian experience…
