NEWS NEWS NEWS! I am super excited to announce that I am now working with Great Run and Great Swim as an Ambassador — eeee! Meaning…yep, more running!

This, for me, is the most amazing opportunity, and something that, a few years ago, when I first started running, struggling to get past a minute jog in my Nike Air Max, I never ever, ever thought I’d be doing. It’s surreal! Great North Run had been on my bucket list for years. My Dad ran it when I was younger and I was forever in awe. I finally ran it for the first time last year and absolutely loved it — it’s definitely the best half marathon I’ve done, with so much energy and support from the crowd, and so well organised and executed. If you got a spot in the ballot this year, you’re going to LOVE it. Roll on September - I can’t wait to run it again!

Not just that but the Great Run series organising a whole load of runs up and down the country, including the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run, Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half and 10km, Birmingham International Marathon, Simplyhealth Great Edinburgh Winter 5km Run and more… I’ll be getting involved with a few of them so I’ll keep you in the loop with which ones..

Then, swimming! Since 2008, Great Swim has been organising all sorts of open water swimming events across the UK and has grown to involve over 22,000 competitors! That’s a lot of swimmers…! As I juggle about 3 million jobs and my schedule is manic, swimming is, for me, more of a passion than a regular form of training. I love the water, always have, but swimming is something I still find really challenging — front crawl in particular!! In this Ambassador role and involvement with Great Swim, I’m so looking forward to not only spending more time in the (open) water but having a real goal and incentive to work towards and hone my technique. Front crawl I will conquer you!!

If there’s one thing I’ve really learnt through my current training for London Marathon is that to be a strong runner, you can’t just be running. You need to be doing yoga, getting in the pool, hitting the gym, and more, and that applies for if you’re running a 10km, a half marathon, marathon or more…so I really urge you to mix up your training!

Anyway, I've babbled on for long enough — I'm pretty excited, can you tell!? Stay tuned for more updates....
