As I hope to see more of the UK this year (I’m making an effort to do more day trips and weekend breaks), I thought it would be nice to share more snippets and pics on here. Little adventure posts if you will, that will be like a scrapbook for me and for you, with ideas of places to go and see...
We drove to Norfolk to stay at The Hoste earlier this month, and spent a gorgeous Sunday morning on Holkham Beach, somewhere we’ve been just once before and totally fell in love with. It’s the most gorgeous place (voted one of the best beaches in the UK I believe), wild and windy, a real rugged spot, and vast too, with gorgeous golden sand that you can walk along for miles. I can’t say we swam (January waters didn’t appeal!) but I bet it’s gorgeous here in the summer so don’t forget to pack your swimmers!
It was icy cold weather when we visited but there’s nothing like a walk with a sea breeze to blow away the cobwebs and make you feel completely invigorated. Go to Holkham Beach and I promise you’ll come back feeling refreshed and exhilarated. After a long walk along the beach, a pint and a spot of lunch is probably in order. For that, head to The Victoria Inn, a great gastro pub with local and seasonal dishes. Delicious.
Spend a night at The Hoste, a gorgeous hotel just round the corner in postcard-pretty Burnham Market. Elegant comfy rooms, a great restaurant with a local and seasonal menu, and luxury spa... what more could you want?
